The old farm
The farm is located on an island and the farmhouse dates from 1891.
In front of the farmhouse is another small
house, which was built by the farmer in 1936
for his daughter.
Unfortunately the municipal archives have
been moved to the regional archives.
As a result of this, the oldest archives have
been lost. The oldest drawings I was able
to find go back to the sixties.
These drawings show that originally the
current kitchen was a cowshed with a hayloft.
A floor has been placed between the cowshed
and the hayloft around 2002 and this resulted
in a lovely bedroom above the kitchen.
Next to the kitchen there was a space for stock.
In those days the part of the house that was left
for the farmersfamily to live in, was only half
of the farmhouse as it is now.
During the renovation of the farmhouse we removed lots of pipes and found lots of walls placed in front of each other. We decided to open a secret space between two walls, sadly there was not pot of gold hidden there, only the remains of old stairs to the pantry. It’s a pitty that the whole space under the house was filled up with concrete.
Between the farmhouse and the new barn there was a place where pigs were kept.
It always crosses my mind how lovely it would be to know what the farm looked like in those days ……
I hope to find pictures, more information and interesting stories about the farmhouse, which I will share with you on this page.
