Last day of November.
I started with the Wallpaper.
Quite a job with the pattern
and the wooden beams.
It’s an impressive Wallpaper;
can’t wait till it’s finished and everything is installed.
23 November …….
Yes I know, a bit early!
But it brings so much joy and cosiness!
These reading lights also had to be scrubbed.
Now I’m painting them black and gold except for the little Cherubs,
they stay their natural colour; quite a fussing job, but it’s fun!
I have been searching for the perfect lampshade and
finally found one that should complete it.
Now I have to wait till they arrive ……
So the Antique bed is widened as much as possible;
I’ve cleaned and scrubbed the bed many times;
changed the green lines into gold
and painted the other parts where necessary.
The Boxspring just fits!
Don’t notice the reading lights on the right.
I found the perfect one’s ( on the left) have a set now and
still working on them.
Christmas Hampers and presents
ready to order now.
Large Chip Baskets
Small Chip Baskets
Exclusive Tea boxes
In the Garden Center it’s already Christmas.
I bought a lot of Gaultheria Procumbens (Eastern Teaberry) for in- and outside
and decorated several with red apples on sticks; already a bit Chrismas feeling!
These two Chrismas Ball Ornaments I had to buy for my Granddaughter,
perfect match with the Forest Theme in all of her stuff.
Aren’t they cute?
So now the garden is taking less time,
there’s more space for some jobs inside the house.
At the endof the corridor it needed a little wallpaper
and some extra decoration.
Now I’m thinking about the panels in the doors,
I would like to give them a different colour.
In the B&B room I’m painting the wooden beams;
ordered a Boxspring that fits the Antique bed, a Vanity Stand
and Mirror and Van Gogh Apple Blossom Wallpaper.
Can’t wait to see it finished!
Starting to clean up the kitchen garden and harvested these very interesting carrots.
I did some research and it turned out that
the soil needs to be a bit sandy ……..
lesson learnt!
In the greenhouse the tomatoes keep coming,
these are for the Tomato Chutney Sensation.
Autumn is coming!
I’m preparing the Small chip baskets
“Autumn Special” and the Small Autumn gifts
Ready to order and available now.
It’s getting darker day by day, so time to decorate the house and garden as well for the Autumn
and make everything warm and cosy.
So many grapes this year,
this is just a small part.
First started making juice, eating lots
and gave away a lot.
But that didn’t help at all;
so then I decided lets start a new project: making my own wine!
I bought the necessary equipment and started the process; so exciting!
Last year I noticed that the
Atlantic Giants does much better
on stones then in the meadow (bottom starts to rot). So this year I had several on the little square next to the Chicken meadow.
While I got rid of a lot of Tomato leaves I found this huge Tomato;
it was Yammie!
And I was already grumbling why I didn’t have any melons but then I first found one, while getting rid of the Tomato leaves and later 3 more behind the shade cloth; really a nice surprise!
This little Crayfish on my gravel road was fighting the car of the Glazier.
Unfortunately he lost one scissor, but he kept on fighting!
Have a close look at the picture on the right!
Yes, a Turtle! He lives here already for three years!
Sometimes I see him taking a sunbath in the meadow,
close to the water, so he feels safe!
Cherry Tomatoes keep coming! So a lot of preserving to do! I found a taste fuller and safer way to preserve them. I will share the recipe with you later.
I had only one Barnevelder.
They ‘re not so big, lovely, smart and
lay a lot of (small) eggs.
So I thought lets go for a few sisters.
When these are a bit bigger,
they can all live together.
The Brahma Hen stayed broody for such a long time,
so after a few weeksI thought
just let her be happy!
Fingers crossed
that not all of them are roosters!
First harvest of Figs
and many more to come!
These first ones I just eat fresh
for example with blue cheese
Roquefort Papillon Noir and
a glass of aged Ruby Port.
In the nursery I found this beautiful
Campanula Purple Sensation (on the left),
the colour and the size of the flowers, fantastic! Had to buy it!
And then a lady came over to me while carrying the Stokes Aster and told me a lovely story about bees sleeping in the heart of the flower
while the flower is closing for the night.
And yes, I also had to buy a few of these!
The cucumbers are doing unbelievable well.
I have 4 different kinds this year
some do better than the other.
But the harvest is grand and
I can’t eat them all , so now I’m experimenting with recipies and herbs
to pickle them tastefully.
For the final result I unfortunately
have to wait several weeks.
To be continued!
Although the children at the Reunion
had a feast with my Raspberries,
( juice was running over their hands and faces)
and also provided us with lots of little fruit snacks,
there was enough left and much more to come for
Raspberry picking for me.
A lot of preserving to do and
jars with Heavenly Raspberries to be filled.
Our Canadian part of the family came over for a visit
with 3 family’s (there are so many more).
We had lovely and also emotial times together
and finished it off with a reunion in tropical heat!
Sharing stories and pictures, saying farewell to someone we all love so much,
but also celebrating a golden wedding day.
We had a fantastic catering from Samalain, an indonesian restaurant,
started with homemade cake made by one of my aunties
and finished according to tradition with Charlotte Russe
